Michael,
Stick some alumin(i)um foil to either the outside surface of the wood that
covers your window, or to the glass itself. I too have a wood-blocked
window that faces the sun, but with the alumin(i)um foil use to "seal out"
the incoming IR. I have had no more problems since doing it.
Infra-red radiation from heating furnaces will also penetrate wooden doors
so mine was covered with alumin(i)um foil.
If you cannot shut off both the processor or the indicator light, make a
small "pad' of folded foil and stick it over the light with electrical tape
to allow for temporary sheilding.
