Re: Airline Inspections
One of my friends had an inspector want to open all his EIR and HIE rolls,
in Jamaica. Luckily he had a changing bag. He put one roll at a time in
the bag so she could feel. After about a dozen rolls she said OK and didn't
check the rest.
Another idea is to take a glue stick with you and save all your film boxes.
When you're finished with a roll, put the canister back in the box and glue
it shut. Put all your boxes in a clear plastic bag. On my return trip
(entirely within the US) I did this and handed the bag to the inspector,
along with my business card and Professional Photographers of America
membership card. He wanted to shake each box to see if it actually
contained film. He asked if it was all new/unexposed and I said yes. He
let me through.
On the flight out, when the film really was new/unexposed, having it in the
clear baggie and showing my cards convinced the inspector to wave me right
through. I guess it all depends on the inspector.
Question -- If one put a piece of black electical tape over the film
canister opening of an exposed roll, would that prevent fogging of HIE?
Just in case an inspector insists on opening the film?
