Dena:
Purchase a IR safe changing bag and have it with you when you go through
security. Get some kind of printed statement about the handling of IR
materials, and offer to let them "feel and touch" your IR materials using
the changing bag. I also carry some samples of my work in a little folio.
Chances are since you are being foreright and prepared they will probably
not even bother.
In addition always try to check in at least ONE HOUR ahead as this way you
don't have to rush through security...and if they want to make you wait you
can without worry.
