RE:
Doug (and all):
I have a textbook on forensics (crime scene analysis) and they discuss using
digital cameras to take IR photos of fingerprints, documents, etc. They
don't mention particular brands, but they do show the Nikon N90-based unit.
So I guess at least some of them can be used for IR.
On a side note, B&H photo in New York (they have a website) is selling a
"Night-Owl" brand IR monocular for US144.99 or US169.99 with a T-mount
adapter. I am skeptical of the quality for this price, but I've used
Night-Owl equipment in law enforcement when it was in the US2,000 range and
it was pretty good stuff. This unit boasts a 2.4x magnification, 300 yd.
range, and 15 degree field of view, and runs on a 9 volt battery. I will
post my observations here after I've had a chance to play with it.
