The current prices for a new SLR medium format camera system with a
few lenses and 70mm backs is probably at least $4000 US dollars. Then
consider the difficulty and expense in getting 70mm developing
equipment and you could quickly find yourself bankrupt.
This provides me with plenty of motivation to save my money and cut my
own film.
Besides it only takes me about 10 to 15 minutes to cut a 100 foot roll
of 70mm down to the 60mm width I use.
My offer to splice a bulk roll of (70mm x 150 foot)HIE or a bulk roll
of (70mm x 100 foot)EIR roll down to 60mm or 61.5mm widths still
stands. I called B&H today and they said both of these films cost
about $180 for one roll with delivery taking 2 to 4 weeks.
For US customers prices will be $225 dollars per roll of 60mm or
61.5mm film either HIE or EIR. Note that the HIE roll will be 150
feet long and the EIR roll will be 100 feet long. Just tell me what
width you want.
The additional $45 dollar fee will help me cover S&H, insurance
charges and the time spent splicing the film.
I'm also willing to let you borrow a home video I made showing how to
make a film splicer. Making one takes a few hours and about $15 to
$25 worth of materials.
Just email me your postal address and I'll send it out to you in a few
weeks.
Peace Rolland
