Many books have been written on IR systems, and tons of papers. Check
procedings of the SPIE. UV is another matter. There are only certain
limited circumstances where UV is appropriate, and much UV work has been
classified.

I have seen similar notes about the mysterious link between
UV-photography and the military in the German book "Moderne
Infrarot- und UV-Fotografie" from Guenter Spitzing, where he
interviews Walter Clark (the Godfather of IR-photography at Kodak
Research Laboratories in Rochester). An English translation of this

PS Guenter: you really should consider an English version of your
