What are paper reels? I load my spliced 70mm film onto old plastic 120
reels and don't use a paper leader. I have to load the stuff in a
darkroom or changing bag anyways, so there really isn't a point in
putting a paper leader on. Film is attatched by using tape.

I could do this, and it would probably run trough my medium format
camera OK, but when it came to loading the film on a developing reel
it would be absolute torture. I get enough snags when I try to load
film with smooth edges, even more would occur with 1/2 exposed sproket
holes.
