I gave a talk a couple of weks ago on infrared photography. After carefully
explaining that HIE is not sensitive to record the heat from a person's body
(including the comment that if it could one would fog the film when loading it),
I received three questions that boiled down to "but how does HIE record body
heat?". this appears ingrained.
Shutterbug made the same error a couple of years ago, not only missing the
statements in the article, but including them in large type. Bottom line is
that HIE will record a person's body heat, but only if they are on fire.
