HIE scratches

I've had several rolls of HIE that have ended up ruined by scratches. The
scratches span the length of the negatives, and are straight, as thought
from a machine. My non-HIE negs never have this problem. Does this sound
like it might be a manufacturing problem, or is it something on my end?
