Or, for less money, order some 87A filter material from W. J.
Markerink -- might as well support list members :-)  The Sony
camcorders see through this filter material quite well, though
they still don't give you X-ray vision.

HIE can also be used with the 87A, with more dramatic results
than lighter filters, but it's very slow.  I'm still figuring out
exactly what speed I want to use with it, and it doesn't help
that we're in the middle of a two week wave of rainy fronts off
the Pacific.  I haven't seen the sun in days.

I don't yet know, but having noticed that the camcorder picks up
bands beyound the visible red in a rainbow, it ocurred to me that
I should take a simple Newton-esque approach and run a narrow
beam of light through a prism against a white card and see what
spectrum lines the camcorder can make out.  Still waiting for the
sun on that one, too.

At least I can get printing done while the power is on.  Only two
blackouts so far this week.
