By "better results" I mean the IR effect is much stronger than would be
gained by the use of a 25,87 or 89 filter.  I was slightly surprised how
much difference it actually makes, though you could never say by just
looking at the video, you need to see them both for the comparison.

My experience has shown their is a difference though it is slightly subtle.
The stronger the filter the more contrast you get in the image, this is the
main reason I use a red filter for most of my private IR work.

If you were to use the 094 B+W filter with HIE it would be VERY slow indeed
and if used with Konica nothing would record not matter how long you exposed
it.  As for why I/we block so much of the IR light out is when we examine
paintings and drawings and the stronger the filter the IR effect becomes
more dramatic, and you will get better penetration through he various paint
layers.
