I guess you're talking about developing HIE? Personally, I started with HC110
(had to use dilution F as dilution B was way too hot). It wasn't until I tried
D76 that I realized that HC110 was out of the question for my purposes. You'll
need to make your own judgements for your own work.

Sorry, I use Xtol for HIE now (1+1 dilution 70F 8 minutes for film exposed at EI
250 when metered through a #25 filter).

Rodinal is my last choice for HIE. It creates a virtual grain storm. If that's
what you're looking for, then that's your choice. Rodinal lasts in its
concentrated form almost forever. I am still using the 16 ounce bottle I
purchased well over a year ago. Dilute before use only.
However, when developing HSI, Rodinal is my first choice. The larger film size
makes all the difference in the world.
