Re: Military IR books
technically, anything published by the US gov't is not out of print, you might end up
getting a microfiche copy, but its available.
try
superintindent of documents
Us gov't printing office
washitngton DC
also if you live in the US and are near a US gov't book store (Kansas City has one, so does
Atlanta that I know off of the top of my head there are other locations around the US) you might
want to check what is available and in print.
it also might be available under NTIS (National Technical Information Service) or if you have
access to it, I know its on DTIC.
regards.

There are a number of books that discuss this topic. One of the neat ones was
the old RCA EO Handbook. It used to be free to those in the profession, and a
nominal price to anyone. It was discontinued years ago, but someone, in
cleaning up an old storage area at RCA, found the master. They printed a number
of copies, but these were immediately snapped up.
There was a thread on this newsgroup a few years ago on that book. Seems RCA
sold the master to some publishing company, and the book went into regular
publication. Anyone remember the publisher, and know if it is still in print?
Excellent book!
Another was the old Military Infrared Handbook. It was printed by the
Government Printing Office, and was very reasonably priced. A number of years
ago the book was greatly expanded, given to IRIM, and is printed commercially.
While greatly expanded, the stuff on IR is not, in my cratchity, iconoclastic
opinion, as good as the old, and it is fantastically expensive. However, there
are occasionally rare copies floating around in old book stores. Many used book
stores are on a big computer network, and you might ask one of your old book
sellers to find --- Whooh! I went to find my copy and I can't- panic!-- to give
you full, correct title.
