Rob: If the stopbath is to concentrated, you get a reaction in the emulsion
where gas is formed and released. The releasing is in the form of minute
explosions, which cause pinholes. To get this effect, one has to be using a
pretty high ph developer and a pretty low ph stopbath, but I have had it
happen going from D-76/ID-11 when I accidentally mixed a stopbath too
strong (probably 12% acid). Of course it could also be a miriad of other
things, including a bad batch of film from the factory, or a sticky roller
in the camera. This was just the first thing that came to mind for me.
Bill
Could the stopbath cause this pinhole effect after the developer?
