Dear Don,
I too have used Kodalith for over thirty years and always have a bottle
of opaque in my darkroom for spotting out the pinholes.
I have also experimented with HSI for about the same time but never did
much with the film because of the problem. And I always assumed that
there was something wrong with my technique. The main reason I
subscribed to the infrared group was to get help in eliminating the
pinholes.
So, it was a revalation to me when Dick Johnson at Kodak made the
connection. Johnson also pointed out the fact that HSI is not a big
seller for Kodak and the company could ultimately abandon the product if
it were too costly to correct.
I solicited comments from this group and relayed them to Johnson in
Rochester. He said the world-wide interest in the film might give him
leverage with his company, and he is somewhat optimistic that Kodak is
working towards a solution.
