Hi Mark. I use an HP Photosmart. It dies quite well and was reasonably
priced. If you have somewhat deeper pockets, Nikon's Coolscan seems good.
For larger formats, you might be better off to buy an external hard drive
and have a pro shop do the scans. You take home a nice big image file, which
you can then plug into your computer. The guy that I know uses a Leaf
scanner. I think it makes 125mb files from 4x5. You want a lot of ram for
4x5.
