low light shooting

Hi there, I'm new to the list.  My name is Kevin and I'm from Toronto,
Ontario, Canada.  I took photography in school, shooting mostly 35mm B&W.
I'm new to IR film, and have a couple of probably pretty stupid questions.
Wondering what the best IR film to use at night in low light situations.
What filters would I use and can I get away with not using a flash without
very long exposures.
