Andrew,
Thanks for the response. Correct me if I'm wrong,
but, I think your previous proposal of loading HIE in
daylight used the following method:
1 Tape an opaque leader to the film
2 rewind the opaque leader into the casette and then
load the casette into your camera.
My theory is different in that I propose to take the
HIE film and spool out of the metal casette and use a
opaque leader around the film.
The significance is that 35mm film tends to unravel in
the metal casette thus allowing it to get exposed to
IR light coming through the felt trap. With my method
the film is always tightly wrapped around the spool,
at least in theory. I am not using a metal cannister
in my method, because the felt trap leaks IR light and
really doesn't provide much protection from fogging.
I'll probably give it a shot in the next few months.
