Point a camcorder at a remote and you can see the IR LED light up. I guess
that in the dark you may get some small illumination from it - many small
IR video cameras use IR LEDs as a light source but are only able to operate
to a range of about 3M. Have toyed with the idea of using a small bank of
IR LEDs as a light source for HIE film but I would imagine that the light
output is too small.
Better to use electronic/bulb flash or a tungsten light with IR filters.
