As Clive says, the Sterling lith paper has a lovely egg shell surface.
What Jason was referring to was a heavy textured paper marketed in the UK by
Fotospeed - who also market Sterling Lith. It goes under the name of Luminos
Tapestry in UK. It is Kentmeres Art Classic emulsion coated on the more
heavily textured reverse side. It lith prints to a pink but then gives
lovely multi colours in selenium.
The texture appears much heavier on 10 x 8 prints (sometimes too heavy -
depending on your image and intentions of course) than it does on 12 x 16 or
16 x 20.
I have experimented widely with lith printing liquid emulsions on many art
papers. Perhaps I can save you some time - most do not lith print, despite
what you might read to the contrary. (I'm talking only of those available in
the UK here) Kentmere make many of them and confirm my findings. They have
occasionally made their warm tone 'Kentona/Art Classic emulsion in liquid
form on special offer for Silverprint. This does of course lith print but is
generally not available and I believe there are some technical difficulties
in production but I'm hazy on the details.
You can get some lith effects with liquid emulsions by normal dev/bleach/
lith redev, but the colours go in the fix or on drying so it isn't very
satisfactory. Similarly Photolinen.
