Don, I usually load the film holders  using cotton gloves and 
process the film with latex gloves--I'm not a fanatic, my hands mark 
almost any film.  However,  there has been some discussion a bit 
back about inherent problems with HSI and HIE.  Consensus being 
the apparent scratch marks may be in the emulsion and Kodak 
has something to answer for..
