Stan, I had one built-in flaw in HIE that went the length of the roll.
At first I though it was a scratch. It turned out to be several parallel
lines either in the emulstion or film base which went from one end
to the other. Even the film that had never left the canister was
flawed. Looking at individual frames it appeared scratched, but
viewed obliquely on front and back there was none. On the other
side, film from the same batch used in the same camera and
processed in the same manner displayed no flaws.
