The clip test is done with a small piece of film in room light. I usually
use the clipped leader from the roll I'm about to process. Set the timer
for a minute, start it the same time you dunk the film. Results are usually
seen from 12 to 30 seconds. At least with Tmax, any longer and its time to
toss the soup.
