For infrared travel pictures I've found that 1950s 35mm
rangefinders do all I need and are very inexpensive.  Two that I
currently have loaded with IR are an Olympus 35S and a Minolta
Auto-Wide.  Both have excellent, fast, glass lenses with filter
threads.  Neither needs a battery, neither has auto focus or
auto exposure that need to be overridden, neither cost me more
than $40.  One lives in the handlebar bag of my bicycle, the
other in my van.
