Perhaps a bit too exotic or too wide-angle for your taste, but if you
want a reliable, relatively light, almost foolproof & all-mechanical
camera, then you might want to consider a Horizon 202 swing-lens
panorama camera.
This also a great alternative to a 20mm or larger wide angle, which
on 35mm film is always a compromise between angle of view and image
magnification....the Horizon uses a 28mm lens, so vertically you have
a moderate wide-angle, while horizontally it exceeds a 14mm by large
(120 degrees).
Note that I am a bit biased, as I sell these cameras myself (US$375,
will include shipping for members of this list), and also fabricate
IR filters for it (#87C and #25; can make others like #12/16, #29,
and #89B, but those will be somewhat less sturdy sandwich foil
filters).
Pictorial samples can be found on my homepage, in a sublimation (pun
intended, you'll see why) of infrared, panorama and winter-landscapes:

Also lots of tips & tricks for this camera, including an online
manual, and a chapter explaining this dilemma/compromise of
angle-of-view vs magnification in more detail.
