        IMHO, this reasoning is invalid as there is no need for ttl
        metering w/ IR (IMHO, of course). Even w/ a working meter, it
        seems to me that the calibration is mismatched to the high
        %age of IR in the incoming light, especially w/ the opaque
        IR filter types. I have done all my IR by working around the
        suggested exposures on the film data sheets using manual
        exposure.

Dear Bill,

The point I was trying to make about buying 70's vintage cameras, like my 
FTNs, is that a shopper would have to pay MORE for a camera with an 
unreliable light meter. I still see nice looking FTNs at flea markets in the 
$300+ range and am told the meters can be serviced.

Otherwise, a handheld or "paper"  meter is the way to go.
