It's the thin Estar base of HIE that makes it more difficult to
load on reels that push the film forward into the reel, rather
than winding it around the reel. For almost all of my 35mm
processing I use reels similar to the Patersons, but for HIE I
use old-fashioned Hewes stainless reels that load the old
fashioned way, pinch and wind rather than push. I also use them
for Technical Pan for the same reasons.
