Re: 4x5 HSI

Russ,

My results with 4x5 have been a mixed bag. I started out tray developing and
I still do but I now only process 1 sheet at a time since this film
scratches sooo easily. I mean real easy! You even need to be carefull of
getting scratches from the conatiner that the film is shipped in. Now I
completely remove the foil bag and throw it out and keep the film sandwiched
in the cardboard shields.

I still have a persistent problem with fogging which is coming from my
holders but I just don't know how, yet! I've used about 11/2 boxes so far
and have gotten edge fog on every sheet.

Having said that, this film is really beautiful, since the negative is so
much larger and the prints made from it are incredible. Detail is superb,
and local contrast is wonderful.

The film seems to be quite a bit slower than my exposures with the 35 mm.
Roughly 2 stops difference by my experience.

You are right, this is expensive film, but go ahead and test it first
otherwise you will be frustrated.

Good Luck,

Don Bryant
