Okay. And please remember: You have to meter WITHOUT the filter.

Sorry, but this doesn't seem to be rational (perhaps I simply understood
you wrong ??). If you used a fixed shutter speed / aperture combination
like 1/125 f 11, you wouldn't have to meter at all. IMO, this is quite a
dangerous recipe. In very bright sunlight, 1/125 f11 should be okay with
a Wratten #25, but with a #87C you will get severely underexposed negs.
According to my notes, something like 1/3 s f11 would be the right
exposure for a #87C in bright sunlight. But I would'nt take any such
figure for granted, beacuse there are far too many variables involved.
If you meter at ASA 12 without the filter and bracket over +/- 1
APERTURE (not ASA) stops, your chances to get printable negs will
significantly increase.. :-)

Be careful with the development times for HIE given by Kodak. I found
that if you expose the film according to the manufacturer's
recommendations (and ISO 12 with a #87C is pretty much what Kodak tells
you), the "official" development times lead to underdeveloped negs.
Apparently, other people have made this experience, too. Just compare
Laurie White's table of development times (p.97) to the one that comes
with the film package. Laurie's times are about 25 % longer - ad she is
right !!!

Good luck and good light,

Eckhard
