Hm, sorry, I can't agree. With a #29 red filter the Wood effect (foliage lightens up)
is visible. Of course not as dramatic as with Kodak HIE.
I put a sample image on my web space a while ago at
http://members.tripod.de/darklight/pix/sfx_test.jpg
(Please note that this is obviously just a test shot ;) )

I like the film for landscapes with a red filter better than 'normal' panchromatic ones.
With panchromatic film, the filter darkens blue sky (that's what I want) but also
darkens green foliage (that's what I don't want). With SFX (and sunlight) the foliage
lightens up and I get a very balanced tonal range.

2 weeks ago I tested SFX with a B+W 092 filter (Wratten#89B). The 'infrared
charateristics' came out stronger than I expected. The combination delivers a
film speed of about ISO12.5 (developed in ID11 1+1, 14minutes, 20degs).
I've put a sample image at
http://members.tripod.de/darklight/pix/st_sturmius.jpg
(Also just a tester)
Unfortunately, I haven't shot much foliage in direct sunlight, but the image should
give an idea, how it looks like (a few leaves on the right).

Film handling is flawless like any 'normal' film and I get fairly fine grain.
Of course SFX is not HIE. The film does have an anti halation layer, so it
doesn't deliver the strong lights we like from HIE. With the right filter, you can
get the typical 'infrared effects' at the cost of film speed although it's just a
'near infrared' film regarding it's spectral sensitivity.

Just my 2 cents.

Cheers, Oliver
