There is great variation in how IR-proof different brands
of electrical tape are.  I use 3M mostly, but I've tried
off brands that let through enough IR that I could see my
TV remote control IR LED with my Sony Nightshot video
camera.  (Tested various tapes when I found fogging on some
film and traced it to the power indicator LED on my darkroom
air cleaner.)
