Infrared Viewing and Metering

Good afternoon to all.  The current (Jan/Feb)Issue of Photo 
Techniques-USA has an article on "controlling" infrared 
photography.  The author writes about modifying a light meter and 
night viewers for this use.  He seems to have gone down a similar 
but different path from postings to this list, although he was aware 
of Andrew Davidhazy's approach. He suggests using an 87 filter to 
get best results but he doesn't seem to have considered between 
the rails mounting.  The only thing which bothered me was his use 
of 4x5 HSI and no comments on problems with it, but maybe that 
is another article.
