I came across a magazine article you all might be interested in.

It is in the JanFeb2000 issue of PhotoTechniques Magazine. The article is
titled "Beyond the Visible:Controlling Infrared Photography" by
Paul Hansma.

It covers converting a light meter to give readings for IR. It also
details how to make a device to "preview" a scene to see how
it looks prior to shooting film.
