Dirk,
Yes, you can use the backing paper from 120 roll film - black side towards
the lens. There is a short description of pressure plate issues, together
with the backing paper suggestion, in the "Which Cameras?" section of the
Infrared FAQ.
The paper will cure any pressure plate problems with reflected dimples and
will reduce the total overall halation effect.
If you do not use 120 roll film then try popping in to your local pro. lab
and asking them for some discarded backing paper - they will probably be
more than happy to give it to you.
