That's correct. The difference is that when you do the negatives yourself,
you can make sure that everything is done properly. A screwed-up negative
cannot be replaced. A bad print, OTOH, can simply be reprinted.

HIE is Kodak High-Speed Infrared Film, Tri-X is an older emulsion Kodak B&W
film.
