Hello Stan,

Was wondering if you were busy chasing your contact Dick Johnson :-) We
look forward to any further announcement on HSI status in March.

Have the feeling that your Kodak chap is uncomfortable because he may have
have been involved in the decision to discontinue the Kodak HSI 4x5.

My guess is that he is probably keeping his head down.


I have the official letter from Kodak Professional UK here in front of me
dated November 17th 1999, and it states:

"..... once our existing stocks are depleted we will no longer be supplying
High Speed Infrared film in sheet format. The reason for the discontinuance
is down to extraordinarily low world-wide usage of this product and a
closure of a manufacturing system. We do have stock currently and with
existing sales this will last us for the forseeable future."


Given the low demand and the pinhole problems with the emulsion, Kodak made
a sensible decision for their company - why continue to supply a non-profit
making product which gives bad press?   Of course, for those that use HSI
and were happy to deal with any problems it is disappointing.......
