Red Filters vs. Visually Opaque IR Filters
- From: "Editor - P.O.V. Image Service" <editor@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>
- Subject: Red Filters vs. Visually Opaque IR Filters
- Date: Mon, 28 Feb 2000 12:10:30 -0500
Just wondered if someone might have sample imagery that portrayed a
scene shot with a Red #25 or Cokin Red 03 on the one hand, and the same
scene shot with a Wratten 87, 87C, or 89B (or similar visually opaque
filter) on the other hand...
I wondered how much visual difference is obvious in the final image...
I generally prefer the red filters...
They are easier to focus and as they reduce a scene to near monotone
tonalities, they make it easy to pre-visualize the scene's composition.
Of course the IR effect itself is not wholly predictable..
As I shoot primarily Kodak HIE, I would be most interested in example
imagery shot on that emulsion...
Feel free to e-mail me sample images directly or direct me to a URL if
you should have, or know of, any images shot both ways, as described
above..
