Wide lenses are optimal for IR photography.  When using wide lenses you can 
shoot at reasonable F-stops and not have to worry about focus shift with the 
IR films.  I let my EOS autofocus the 17-35mm lens, keep it at F8 on aperture 
priority  and just shoot away.
