Film here in the states is cheep. When I first retired  a frind of mine who owens a pro shop here in NYC gave me a partime job. I could buy enything from him at his cost.

I found that if I walked 2 blocks to B@x the film was cheeper than my friends dealer
price.

It is common practice in the US to make up the loss from selling  
hardware (mostly cameras and lenses) at dealer cost by charging more  
for film and accessories.
