Scotch tape = pin holes

To Rolland and the group,
I have seen static electricity discharges on my sheet film and it looks like
little black lightning bolts (on negs).
In my discussions with Dick Johnson at Kodak, he talked about a problem they
had with HIE. Matte beads are placed in an overlying coating to keep another
piece of film from abrading the emulsion. At one point in the manufacturing,
these matte beads were migrating into the sensitized emulsion, causing the
voids we call pinholes. Kodak has now corrected the problem.
It is possible that Scotch tape is binding to these tiny high spots and
tearing pieces of the emulsion out on removal.
