Re: Using Rodinal for Maco IR films

Hi everyone,
Been lurking for the last little while. I thought I would offer a little
input on this issue of using Rodinal or D-76 for sheet film developing.
I tried using Rodinal for HSI (the sheet film) in an attempt to evade or at
least minimize the pinhole problem. While it seemed at first to have
minimized the pinholes, I found it to have little effect in the long run. I
did see that I was getting a very nice range of tones, but in comparing
images from negs developed in D-76 to the Rodinal negs, there was a definite
difference in grain in the fine detail (ex tree branches) the Rodinal negs
are simply grittier, I like the smoother look better, that's why I shoot
large format in the first place.
Perhaps you have to give it a try for yourself.
Best of luck,
Clark aka The Great Canadian Beaver Trap Thief
