Rolland,
The diversity of interests and preferences and techniques is what makes
photography and exciting interest, art form, profession or even obsession
:-) I am glad that you disagree with me.....
Regarding the USPS and xrays. You are quite correct, the USPS does not scan
airmail packages regularly. It is the airmail carriers contracted by the
USPS who scan all mail placed in their aircraft. If you recall I did send
you the statement from the USPS some time ago when we were discussing
privately the shipment of film from the USA to UK.
Scanning all mail clearly makes sense due to the potential threat of
terrorism. The pilot of the aircraft should insist on all packages being
scanned - the owners of the aircraft probably demand a total scan of all
items.
Using certain procedures approved by the USPS it is possible to minimise
the likelyhood that packages of film will be scanned - they may however be
hand searched.
Some time ago we discussed sending a test roll through to the UK, I would
still be interested in doing this with a roll of 120 HIE. Maybe you have
already tested the UK route using another person?
Anyway, your offer of a refund for any International order damaged by xrays
is very generous. It would however be good to know in advance that the
possibility of xray damage has been minimised by taking the appropriate
measures with the USPS.
All the best,
