Lucky. I went through a "thorough" documentation check at Dulles upon
returning from europe in 1993. I had filled out the customs form before
leaving the US and they were actually surprised that I had the form. You
could see the dissappointment in their face. I had purchased the
N90 and several D lenses just before the trip so the gear still looked
brand new.
I never leave the country without filling out the custom forms for
anything of significant value - even when going to Canada.
