Re: IR videos
IR film is available in 150 foot and 400 foot lengths, but not 200 feet. I
think this director doesn't know what he's talking about. The base of this
film is just as strong as any other movie film if not stronger. In addition
one could easily splice together three rolls of 400 foot rolls to make a
1200 foot roll. Since the film base it thinner it would still fit into the
standard 1000 foot camera reels and as a bonus you would have an extra 200
feet of shooting time.
Mitsibushi has several Car commercials shot with this film.
Color Infrared film is also available in 150' and 400' reels. That would be
really cool to see a commercial in color infrared!
Peace,
Rolland Elliott

Subject: Re: IR Videos
There is an American film called "The Big Brass Ring" by director
George Hickenlooper. He used Kodak HIE for some amazing wide angle
opening shots of 2 brothers playing as children. It came out last
year and should be available on video or DVD. I heard him speak and
he said adapting HIE for motion picture cameras was difficult because
it kept breaking and only came in 200 foot rolls.
The effect was startling, however, particularly projected on a big film
screen.
