The Lee #87 filter is a very thin piece of polyster sheet which has an
infrared coating on one side conforming in light transmission more or less
to a Wratten #87 filter rating.

This means that it will stop "visible" light from entering your camcorder
lens if placed in front of the lens.

There is a section in the Infrared FAQ (URL in sig. file) on using
camcorders and also an article contributed by Rolland Elliot explaining how
to remove infrared blocking filters usually placed in the light path near
the CCD.
