Agreat source for information for photo emulsion is Marcy Merril, her site is at

If you have questions, send her an email she is always very happy to lend advice.
Also check out handcolor.com Marcy did a chat there 3 weeks or so ago on PE. The
transcript form the chat can be found there. She did discuss petting the PE on
fabric, not canvas specificaly, but it might answer  your question.
