No, never. The numbers on my negs always show some mid gray tone, quite
different from what I'd expect on - say - T-Max 400.

I always tried to adjust my developing for the pictures, not for the
benchmark numbers. .. Normally we want good pics, not nice white
numbers, don't we? ;-) I'd simply forget about the benchmarks and
develop for the image.
