Mail order IR Processing?

I just had my first roll of IR film processed.  When I got the prints 
back, they were out of focus (negatives were tack sharp under a 4X loupe) 
and they printed over half of them backwards!  Needless to say, that 
after paying $30 for processing, I'm haveing them reprint them.  

This was supposedly one of the better places here in Minneapolis, MN 
but I found out they ship them to a lab in St. Cloud, MN. So, I'm left to 
wonder: 
 
 1. Is there a reliable mail order place to send IR film to? 
 2. Anyone happen to know a reliable place in the Minneapolis area? 
 3. How much would it cost to get started with a basic darkroom kit so I 
 can either develope the film, or develop & print, at home. 
 
My first roll turned out pretty good as far as exposure and focusing (at 
least on the negatives) and I'm excited about continueing with IR, but I 
need a more reliable processor if it's going to cost me $40 a roll 
(including film cost).
