I sure you can tell by now that there are many different opinions relating
to the imperfections of your negatives. I don't agree with Stan Putz that
the problem is caused by "air bells". I process my own film and have for
years and I don't buy into the "air bell theory". For whatever reasons these
imperfections rear there ugly little heads now and again. As I alluded in my
previous e-mail 4x5 HIE (at least for me) has been very irritating and
perplexing, this film is sooo touchy.

So the point is, the problems your are seeing come with the territory and
will have to be reckoned with as your time and abilities allow. But as a
general rule of thumb you will have more consistent results if you can
process the film yourself. This is something you may not want to do right
away but it can be done without an elaborate darkroom setup.

Whatever your solution path, good luck and keep those cards and letters
coming in.
