To everyone that has had input to this and responded to the questions I 
asked:  Thank You.  You have given me something to ponder.

Now, another question.  Does anyone know of a site that might have more 
detailed information about photographic chemistry in the environment?

I want to do much more research before making a decision on doing my own 
film processing.
